The new gym and climbing wall at Colorado Mountain College in Leadville are open to the public during set hours when college classes are in session.
The gym and balls are available for use at no charge. Public access to the climbing wall, including the use of shoes and harnesses, is $4 per session, or a 10-punch pass is $30.
The center is open:
Mondays, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. with 5-10 p.m. reserved for women only
Tuesdays, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. (the gym will be closed during recreation league volleyball evenings from Oct. 12 to Nov. 16)
Wednesdays and Fridays, 8 a.m.-10 p.m.
Thursdays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The center is closed to the public on Thursday evenings.
Saturdays and Sundays, 5 p.m.-10 p.m.
The climbing wall is open for bouldering (unroped) from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. To boulder, participants must complete liability and guidelines forms.
The climbing wall is open for roped climbing 5-10 p.m. Fridays through Wednesdays (except for Monday evenings, when it’s open for women only; the center is closed to the public on Thursday evenings). For roped climbing, participants must complete a belay test in addition to the liability and guidelines forms.
The center will be closed when special events are scheduled and during student holidays, including: Nov. 24-28 and Dec. 11 to Jan. 11, 2011. For the most up-to-date information on when the gym and climbing wall are open to the public, please call 486-4284.
